"I had the title “couch surfing” written down for months, I had pitched it to multiple writing rooms and it was never the one we’d write that day," Ashley shares. It was a term my sisters and I would throw around as kids, we called ourselves couch surfers: people who hopped from one person’s couch to the next couch. We also grew up in a beach town, so it was fitting."
