Charley Crockett Announces "Dollar a Day", the Second Chapter in His Sagebrush Trilogy

Texas troubadour Charley Crockett is back in the saddle with the announcement of Dollar a Day, the second installment in what he’s now calling the “Sagebrush Trilogy.” The album is set to drop on August 8, a date the artist believes is filled with a little extra luck and if his track record is any indication, fans should count themselves lucky too.

The genre bending country storyteller peeled back the curtain on his creative process and deepening collaboration with producer Shooter Jennings.

“We're right in the middle of a trilogy now,” Crockett told Rogan. “I did Lonesome Drifter with him. And then the next one that's coming out is Dollar a Day on 8-8, which I think is a lucky number. And then I've got a third one coming after that that we're calling the Sagebrush Trilogy.”

The title Dollar a Day evokes Crockett’s signature mix of dusty-road romanticism and gritty workingman blues. While the album’s tracklist is still under wraps, fans can expect a continuation of the vivid Americana Crockett has made his calling card, equal parts honky-tonk, Gulf Coast soul, and frontier poetry.

Crockett also offered rare insight into the comfort and freedom he feels working with Jennings. “Shooter is the first guy I've ever been in a studio with where I truly don't feel judged,” he shared. “That kind of trust? That’s where the good stuff lives.”

If anyone understands the value of good stuff, it's Charley Crockett. Born in South Texas and raised with a wanderer’s spirit, Crockett is no overnight success. His career has been a slow burn, shaped by years of busking on street corners, sleeping in vans, and staying fiercely independent in a landscape that doesn’t always make room for outlaws and originals.

Since breaking through with albums like Welcome to Hard Times and The Man from Waco, Crockett has earned a devoted fanbase drawn to his throwback style and unfiltered authenticity. He’s not just reviving the sounds of traditional country, blues, and R&B, he’s reshaping them with a voice that feels both timeless and deeply personal.

With Dollar a Day, Crockett’s storytelling is poised to reach new heights, and the Sagebrush Trilogy looks to cement his place as one of the most compelling artists in modern country music.

August 8 can’t come soon enough.
